The Neon Museum Film Policy

Thank you for your interest in using The Neon Museum as a location. As a nonprofit organization we rely on the publicity and income generated by filming to support our mission to preserve Las Vegas history through its incredible neon signage.

Please remember the signs in The Neon Museum collection are irreplaceable historic artifacts, not props, and must be treated as such. Our goal is to limit further damage and deterioration of the signs so that future generations will be able to view, appreciate and learn from them.

The following is a list of guidelines for all crews to help make your work on Museum grounds safe and productive. If you have any questions please direct them to The Neon Museum staff. We are not responsible for misinformation provided by location scouts or their representatives. Refusal to abide by the rules and regulations contained herein will result in the termination of your shoot by the Neon Museum without refund of deposits or fees.

1. For every shoot proposed to take place within the Boneyard, we require the submission of a Project Request Form. The Neon Museum reserves the right to approve or deny any project based on content of the overall project or the specific scenes proposed for shooting within the Boneyard if we feel the content could damage the goodwill of the Museum. Once you receive approval, any and all scene additions and changes must be approved prior to set-up of the shot by Neon Museum staff.

2. Any and all location fees are required upon arrival for your shoot before any set-up or filming can begin. We accept cash, check or credit cards. Please note that we are unable to offer invoicing or terms of any kind.

3. Any and all additional units, such as video and/or photography for documentation purposes, must be cleared no later than 1 week prior to arrival at the Boneyard. Additional units arriving on-site without pre-approval by the Museum will be denied entry.

4. Certificate of insurance with a minimum $1,000,000 Comprehensive General Liability naming The Neon Museum as "additional insured" is required for all filming.

5. Signs cannot be touched or moved without prior permission and assistance from The Neon Museum staff or its designated contract labor. Crew personnel are not authorized to touch or move artifacts on their own. Company is financially liable for any damage to signs during scouting, set up, filming and clean-up.

6. Any moving arrangements will be made and supervised by The Neon Museum and must take place before a shoot begins.

7. The film company is responsible for all moving costs of signage including replacing to original position after the shoot. Estimates will be provided before any work begins.

8. The Neon Museum provides security for all shoots. Depending on times, size and length of shoot, contract personnel may be required. The Neon Museum will arrange for coverage and include any fees in the total charges to the Company.

9. There is NO POWER and NO RUNNING WATER on site. Company is responsible for arranging generators for evening shoots. Usage must be approved by The Neon Museum

10. No apparatus including lighting fixtures, clamps, cabling, light screens etc can be placed on or around signs without prior approval and assistance from the Neon Museum staff or its designated contract labor.

11. Crew and cast are not authorized to lean, sit or stand on any sign at any time.

12. There is NO SMOKING within the fenced area of the Boneyards. Smoking is permitted outside of the Boneyard only.

13. Please keep food and beverages away from the signs at all times. Catering set ups must be approved by Museum staff.

14. We recommend closed toed shoes for all crew members. Please also dress for the weather as there is no shelter available on site. Remember jackets for winter and hats and sunscreen for summer months. Please provide adequate water for all of your personnel.

15. There are NO BATHROOMS on site. Company is required to pay for portable bathroom rental if required. Bathrooms are available across the street at The Reed Whipple Center after 11:00 AM Tues-Fri only.

16. Trash must be placed into designated receptacles only. Additional bags may be provided by The Neon Museum staff. Crew is expected to bag all trash before leaving the site. A Neon Museum representative will show you where to leave closed bags.

17. Parking is permitted in the Reed Whipple Cultural Center's rear parking lot only. No street parking is allowed unless a special permit is obtained from Las Vegas Metro Police. Vehicles parked on the street are subject to tow per City codes.

18. Blocking or closing surrounding streets requires a permit from and supervision by Las Vegas Metro Police. Company must arrange this before any shoot begins. Metro normally requires minimum one week notice for approval.

19. Requests for use of the adjacent Cashman Center parking lot must be made directly with Cashman Center.

20. Crews must vacate the premises by 10:00 PM due to the adjacent residential zone. Extensions require a special use permit from Las Vegas Metro in advance.

21. You are using our facility at your own risk. The Neon Museum is not responsible for damage or loss of personal belongings or equipment while on site. Please use normal caution. Lock all vehicles and do not leave valuables unattended.
