It’s hard to believe but our museum will celebrate its fifth birthday next month. To help mark the occasion we will offer free admission on October 28 from 1 to 7 p.m. Come help us celebrate the crown jewel of Las Vegas!
A new tour schedule begins this month and with it another significant boost in offerings as the popularity of our museum and its collection continue to grow. Beginning September 18 we will offer 27 tours a day during weekdays and 33 tours a day on weekends. We are also pleased to offer the continuation of late night tours. These tours, which began in July, start at 10:20 p.m. with the last tours finishing past midnight. They are routinely sold out so it’s best to plan ahead when making reservations.
And when you visit you will notice the Boneyard is a little brighter. Thanks to several generous donations, four additional signs have been refurbished, relit and placed back into our collection. These include the Happy Shirt from Steiner Cleaners and the incredible twisted neon Yucca blossom atop the Yucca Motel sign. Those two signs join the Margarita glass known as Margarita Babies and the spectacular script Fitzgerald’s sign from downtown Las Vegas.
Finally, we are fast approaching the premiere of our new immersive experience in our North Gallery. This experience will combine art, history and technology in a 25-minute production set to sound and music. It’s our biggest addition since we opened as a museum five years ago and we can’t wait to share it with you. You will be reading and hearing a lot about this innovative project in the days and weeks ahead.
