In his role, he oversees all the marketing, communications, branding and digital for the university, including student recruitment, alumni and athletics. He is a member of the President’s Cabinet and provides overall direction on the brand image of UNLV. Specific areas of responsibility are advertising, branding, creative design, marketing, media relations, print and electronic communications, photography, print and copy center, social media, video, and web. Mr. Alberta supervises a staff of 36 people. The university is a doctoral granting institution of nearly 30,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff members. It was founded in 1957.

Previously, he was the vice president of public affairs for eight-and-a-half years at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and served as a member of the executive management team. The LVCVA is the destination marketing organization for Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, and its mission centers on attracting visitors by promoting the destination as the world’s most desirable destination for leisure and business travel. The LVCVA also owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center and Cashman Center.

As vice president of public affairs, he was responsible for directing public affairs, corporate communications and public relations for the organization and destination. He also oversaw the activities of the Las Vegas News Bureau and the community and business relations activities of the Las Vegas Host Committee.

Vince has more than 20 years of experience in public relations and holds an Accredited in Public Relations (APR) certification from the Public Relations Society of America. Previously, he was the public information manager for the Southern Nevada Water Authority and the Las Vegas Valley Water District. In that capacity, he oversaw all communication functions and outreach activities for the organizations. Prior to the Water District, Mr. Alberta worked at Sprint, Nevada Power Company and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

Before working in public relations, he accumulated 16 years of journalism experience as a reporter and anchor covering news and sports. His journalism career included work in television, radio and print.

Vince received a master’s degree in public administration from UNLV and graduated magna cum laude from Colorado Mesa University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He serves as a national accreditation and assembly delegate for the Public Relations Society of America and is pursuing certification from the Destination Marketing Association International as a certified destination management executive. He is a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership program and the Clark County Leadership Program.
