Duck Duck Shed returns October 4-7 to celebrate Las Vegas’ architecture, design and culture. Highlights from the celebration include a look at the life and career of Debbie Reynolds in Las Vegas; a first look at Las Vegas’ newest Duck, Sphere Arena; Discussion with Yale professor and acclaimed architectural critic Christopher Hawthorne and more headlining the second annual event.
In a place not recognized for historic preservation, Duck Duck Shed dives into a different side of Las Vegas and shares multiple decades’ worth of the city’s storied architectural character through a multitude of individual events. The four-day series features nationally renowned lecturers, access to historic artifacts and one-of-a-kind experiences recognizing Las Vegas' iconic culture.
Our headlining exhibition, The Persona. The Person: Debbie Reynolds in Las Vegas dives into legendary actress Debbie Reynolds’ impact on the Las Vegas entertainment scene, as well as her story. Explore this talented trailblazer’s impact in Las Vegas from her years performing at the Riviera, Desert Inn and South Point, to owning the Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Hotel. The exhibition, curated with the help of her son Todd Fisher, includes many of Reynolds’ exquisite gowns, stage costumes, letters, photos and memorabilia.
Additionally, other panels and tours for the 2023 edition include a presentation by renowned scholar and author Stefan Al discussing design in Las Vegas over the past decades and the lessons we can learn from them.
Jaclyn Roth of Assemblage Studios hosts a Neon Boneyard premier tour, adding a new perspective to The Neon Museum's collection focusing on architecture.
Educator and author, Andrea Loney hosts, Duck Duck Shed for Ducklings, a hands-on learning panel designed with children in mind with opportunities to create a floor plan and then build a mock version of it while learning. The complete lineup for Duck Duck Shed 2023 is at duckduckshed.com.
