UNVEIL THE IMPACT OF ARCHITECT PAUL REVERE WILLIAMS IN NEVADA THROUGH THREE INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS

As a part of a suite of programs made possible through the partnership between the Nevada Museum of Art, the Nevada State Museum Las Vegas, The Neon Museum and the Nevada Preservation Foundation, explore and celebrate the contributions of architect Paul Revere Williams in Nevada.

Las Vegas, Nev. (January 15, 2023) – Discover the first licensed African American architect to work in the western region of the United States and whose contributions to the built environment of Las Vegas can still be experienced today. Paul Revere Williams (1894-1980) was the first black recipient of the AIA Gold Medal and designed many iconic structures in Las Vegas, including the La Concha Motel (now a part of The Neon Museum), the Guardian Angel Cathedral, and Berkeley Square.

Inspired by the exhibition Janna Ireland on the Architectural Legacy of Paul Revere Williams In Nevada organized by the Nevada Museum of Art and on display at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, the public is invited to attend a series of programs on February 17-18 that celebrate the many contributions of this celebrated architect in the Silver State. These programs have been made possible through an innovative partnership between four institutions: the Nevada Museum of Art, the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, The Neon Museum and the Nevada Preservation Foundation.
