Las Vegas, Nev. (January 15, 2023) – Discover the first licensed African American architect to work in the western region of the United States and whose contributions to the built environment of Las Vegas can still be experienced today. Paul Revere Williams (1894-1980) was the first black recipient of the AIA Gold Medal and designed many iconic structures in Las Vegas, including the La Concha Motel (now a part of The Neon Museum), the Guardian Angel Cathedral, and Berkeley Square.

These programs have been made possible through an innovative partnership between four institutions: the Nevada Museum of Art, the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, The Neon Museum and the Nevada Preservation Foundation.
