When most people think of the Neon Museum, the first thing that comes to mind is large neon signs. What you may not know is that the Museum also collects much smaller artifacts related to the commercial signage or branding of the Las Vegas properties represented in the sign collection.
These include postcards, matchbooks, pins, pens, posters, letterhead and keychains just to mention a few. A rotation of these objects are on display in the La Concha lobby’s display case. Recent additions to the ephemera collection include:
A Mr. O’Lucky vase from Fitzgeralds c. 1990s and a Mr. O’Lucky keychain.
Mr. O’Lucky was the mascot of Fitzgeralds Hotel and Casino. A large fiberglass version of the character was once at the corner entrance of the property next to a rainbow and a pot of gold.
$1 tokens from the Lady Luck, O’Sheas, Showboat and Silver Saddle Saloon.
A variety of matchbooks.
Pins from Caesars Palace.
The “Living Legends of Comedy” show featuring Milton Berle, Sid Caesar and Danny Thomas was held at Caesars Palace in 1988. George Burns and Charo performed at Caesars the same year.
