Job title: Interpretive Staff Supervisor

Hours/Week: 40

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Purpose 

The main responsibility of the Interpretive Staff Supervisor will be to manage front of house activity, including but not limited to: greeting visitors, staffing front desk, facilitating ticket sales, and assisting with crowd control while also answering phones and occasionally assisting with designated administrative tasks. Works closely with the Visitors’ Center Assistant Manager and the Performance & Culture Manager to ensure an effectively functioning front of house and optimal team environment.  Supervises and assists with staff and volunteer training.  The Interpretive Staff Supervisor will be required to work in the North Gallery when deemed appropriate by management.   The Interpretive Staff Supervisor works with the Visitors’ Center Assistant Manager and Performance & Culture Manager to ensure an excellent guest experience from start to finish. The Interpretive Staff Supervisor is responsible for coaching and reviewing direct reports, including all full time and part time Museum Interpreters. This individual must be a team player who is committed to excellent customer service and passionate about the history of Las Vegas, conducting themselves professionally while mindful of the goals and the mission of the Neon Museum. This position reports directly to the Performance and Culture Manager. The Interpretive Staff Supervisor is required to attend all staff and team meetings as instructed by Visitors’ Center Assistant Manager, Performance & Culture Manager, department Director, as well as additional meetings as determined by the President/CEO. 

Essential Job Functions

* Prepare daily schedules for Front Of House staff assignments

* Prepare monthly and daily ticket releases

* Work closely with Visitors’ Center Assistant Manager to prepare seasonal schedules 

* Keep accurate and confidential employee records

* Open and close the facility; ensuring the campus is safe and secure.

* Create and submit Incident Reports and other reports as needed.

* Monitor weather to ensure safe operating conditions; consult with Visitors’ Center Assistant Manager regarding tour cancellation and rescheduling.

* Interface with Operations Department to identify and solve any issues relating to facility, grounds, equipment, and supplies necessary to running the visitors’ center

* Assist in the supervision and training of Interpretive Staff, including volunteers

* Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner.

* Provide accurate information about the Museum including, but not limited to, admission fees, hours of operation, events and programs, directions, exhibits and general policies.

* Field questions about the Neon Museum, Las Vegas, Las Vegas history and related topics with enthusiasm and positivity.

* Facilitate ticket sales in a timely and professional manner.

* Operate cash registers in an accurate and efficient manner.

* Enter correct admission fees, codes, and coupon amounts.

* Properly interface with database system to ensure accurate capturing of guest data.

* Properly record payment and provide accurate change to customer.

* Promote all Museum fundraising opportunities, including but not limited to memberships and pavers.

* Answer phones as needed in a professional manner, transferring calls to appropriate staff members.

* Process bank deposits from individual deposits into one deposit no less than three times per week.

* Ensure that deposits are taken to the bank no less than three times per week.

* Follow all internal controls as laid out by the Chief Financial Officer.

* Maintain a professional and tidy front desk area.

* Provide courteous and professional crowd control as needed.

* Present exhibit related educational programming to Museum visitors via an informed, patient and enthusiastic tour experience.

* Execute the daily museum interpreter schedule outlining the daily rotation for the museum interpreter team, including scheduling breaks and ensuring appropriate breaks are taken per the scheduled time.

* Count down each museum interpreter’s/associate’s drawer at the beginning and end of each shift; provide change throughout the day as needed. Monitor cash drop at end of shift.

* Manage sweeps of cash drawers that exceed internal controls.

* As front of house supervisor, enforce all guest services/museum interpreter policies and procedures.

* Serve as the go-to for handling any unhappy visitors or disgruntled guests.

* Remain informed and up to date on all Museum policies and enforce all Museum policies at all times.

* Provide assistance as needed at Museum special events and unique tour scenarios.

* Assists in a variety of staff operations, performing special projects and additional assignments as requested.

* Work with the President/CEO and the entire Museum Interpreter/Associate Team to evaluate the guest services experience, offering suggestions and adapting modifications as the Museum continues to grow and build an exceptional guest experience.

* Build positive relationships with guests to ensure repeat visitors and an exceptional Museum experience.

* Additional tasks as assigned by the President/CEO or other member of management.

Qualifications/Experience

The ideal candidate must value the Neon Museum’s mission and articulate that mission with authentic passion.  Minimum two years customer service experience.  Minimum two years’ cash-handling experience.  Prior supervisory experience is preferred.  Possess excellent customer relations skills.  Able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.  Able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.  Must be dependable and professional in all situations.  Must be able to firmly, effectively and professionally enforce Neon Museum policies at all times.  Must use absolute discretion in all dealings with Neon Museum constituents.  Must have some flexibility with regard to scheduling.  Comfortable speaking in front of large groups. Comfortable with a variety of fundamental administrative tasks.  Ability to tolerate numerous interruptions throughout the day.  Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.  Interest in history, Las Vegas history, art, architecture, preservation or neon signs a plus.

The Museum Interpreter will greet visitors, staff front desk, facilitate ticket sales, and assist with crowd control while also answering phones and assisting with administrative tasks as needed. A key component of this position as Museum Interpreter will be to host several guided tours daily in rotation with other staff members. The Museum Interpreter must be a team player who is committed to excellent customer service and passionate about the history of Las Vegas, conducting themselves professionally while mindful of the goals and the mission of The Neon Museum. Job title:  Museum Ambassador

Job Purpose

The Ambassador is responsible for providing exceptional guest engagement to all guests in the North Gallery exhibit. The Ambassador must be able to effectively communicate information verbally and graphically, and usher guests from the staging area to the North Gallery.  This position must assist with the Gallery’s activities and events that demonstrate the highest level of service. The Ambassador must be a team player who is passionate about the history of Las Vegas, conducting themselves professionally while mindful of the goals and the mission of The Neon Museum. This position reports directly to the Lead Ambassador. The Ambassador is required to attend all staff meetings and additional meetings as determined by the President & CEO or other member of management.

Essential Job Functions

·         Greet guests in a courteous and professional manner.

·         Offer assistance to North Gallery guests.

·         Respond to guests’ inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.

·         Build relationships by engaging guests in assigned areas with authentic, personable conversations.
