Show closes but sign props live on
The Neon Museum recently received a donation of reproductions of classic Las Vegas signs from the Wynn Las Vegas production “Showstoppers,” which closed last year after a nearly two-year run.
A little background: ShowStoppers opened Dec. 20, 2014, at the Encore Theater. The production consisted of 35 singers and dancers, backed by a 31-piece orchestra. The 90-minute show included musical numbers from celebrated American composers and lyricists - Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, among others. The show closed on Sept. 30, 2016.
The production featured spectacular scenery, which included our recent donation. The Wynn donated neon reproductions of classic Las Vegas signs. The replicas of Vegas Vic and the Pioneer Club, Vegas Vickie and Glitter Gulch, Golden Nugget, Binion's Horseshoe, and the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign are being housed for now at the Museum offices.
